Maybe I should learn an instrument like 10 years ago.

  1. Hapax says:

    That’s impressive.

  2. heather says:

    that was awesome!

  3. mog says:

the only thing that could make this video more awesome is if there was a millenium falcon in the background (also nope chucksdajnoaodflkaj)

  4. Foxtrot says:

Part of me that wanted to hate this: OBJECTION!! He used a banjo, while wearing a cabby and overalls! Therefore value of this feat has been lost!
Part of me that actually liked this: HOLD IT!! The boy was backed up by a violin and a guitar, once more restoring value to said feat! May I also mention that he had a 1/50th scale model of the Millennium Falcon upon his nightstand?!
    OBJECTION!!
    OBJECTION!!

    • Lytrigian says:

Also, the fidder was 12 and the guitarist was 14, his two older brothers.

These guys popped up on another Cheezburger site before, which is how I heard about them, but since then they’ve been on David Letterman and have performed at the Grand Ole Opry. They also have an album out now.

Not bad for some kids from Northern New Jersey.

  5. megashark says:

They should play this video when you beat Guitar Hero, just to make you feel like a loser…

  6. Carl says:

One of the best versions I’ve heard of that song (and I’ve been around the block a few dozen times in my day)

  7. Bama says:

Ah yes, makes all the other dreck on the web fade away…..

  8. stupidpeople says:

    PADDLE FASTER, I HEAR BANJOS.

  9. ironwindow says:

The Mizzone Brothers are awesome…They have set a name for them self and there combined ages aren’t even that of most of the users here.

For you guys cracking on the Banjo, it is probably one of the more complicated stringed instruments to play.

And there is no violin in this video. That is a fiddle all the way.

I love bluegrass and these boys are quickly making it through the bluegrass world getting recognition by guys such as Ricky Skaggs and Russel Moore.

    • Lytrigian says:

A violin and a fiddle are exactly the same except for playing style. Play it one way it’s a violin, play it another it’s a fiddle, but you’re not wrong if you call it one instead of the other. Sometimes a fiddle uses a flatter bridge, but the bridge is a replaceable part on a violin.

And yah, I think if you look through their channel they’ve got a vid of them jamming with Ricky Scaggs backstage before one of their shows. And also onstage with JD Crowe, where it looked like everyone was having a blast.

  10. FamilyBassman says:

And yet. Even recorded in a bedroom, the sound recording was impeccable. Now THAT’S impressive.

  11. chest says:

I’m never impressed by kids that age being that good with instruments.
    It only needs two things.

    1. A kid who is really interested in that instrument, and doesn’t lose the interest.
    2. Parents who support that interest.

It is so easy for kids to learn an instrument if they start before the age of 14

    • IDWTLOTPA says:

It has become more impressive to the masses because of the quality of the people who are considered musical “stars”.

      I don’t consider myself a music snob, but why the f-ing f-idy f- are non-instrument playing, non-songwriting, auto-tuned hacks so popular?

  12. Ariadne says:

This kid wails…to be this good he must’ve started practicing in the womb! I’m sure this is how Eddie, Angus, Malcolm and Jimmi got started – granted- theirs were guitars, but this kid rocks with equal enthusiasm.

  13. JW2285 says:

Excuse me, I’m gonna go stand in the corner until my feelings of inadequecy and talentlessness go away.

And, though admittedly awesome, nevermind the Millenium Falcon, WTF was a taxidermied fox doing in a kid’s bedroom?
